Unit 09 · 40 minutes
Forex Analysis Foundations
Build a market thesis from structure, volatility, fundamentals and context without pretending to predict certainty.
By the end, you can
- ✓Classify trend and range conditions
- ✓Use multiple timeframes without conflicting signals
- ✓Prepare for scheduled fundamental risk
Candles in context
A candle summarizes a period; it is not a forecast. Wicks and bodies become useful when read with location, structure, volatility and participation.
Structure and regimes
Swing highs and lows help describe trend, range and transition. Support and resistance are working areas where behavior previously changed, not guaranteed turning prices.
Breakouts and fakeouts
A breakout is movement beyond a defined area; acceptance, follow-through and retest behavior provide context. A failed breakout can reveal trapped positioning but still needs risk-defined execution.
Multiple timeframes
Use a higher timeframe for environment, an operating timeframe for the setup and a lower timeframe only when it adds execution information. More timeframes do not automatically create more confirmation.
Tools by purpose
ATR estimates recent volatility, moving averages summarize price, and volume or VWAP may describe participation where data is meaningful. Indicators transform existing data; they do not remove uncertainty.
Fundamental context
Rates, inflation, employment, growth and central-bank expectations affect currencies. Mark high-impact events, define the affected instruments and decide in advance whether the strategy permits exposure.
A structured thesis
Write the observed regime, important areas, catalyst risk, valid setup, invalidation and no-trade conditions. A thesis is a conditional plan, not a prediction.
Practice room
Turn the idea into a decision
These are fictional learning scenarios. They do not place trades or use real money.
